Completion of the first experimental habitat assembly with integrated IoT (ITAINNOVA)

Completion of the first experimental habitat assembly with integrated IoT is one of the most eagerly awaited milestones in the heliCO2farm trajectory. It marks the transition from design and planning to the tangible reality of an operational system ready for testing. This habitat will be at the heart of validating our Biotic Direct Air Capture and the dual system that defines the project. In practical terms, it is our first large‑scale “field lab”.

The habitat integrates sensors, control systems, and communications that allow detailed monitoring of both the behavior of living organisms and environmental and process variables. This digital infrastructure turns the system into a continuous source of high‑value data for technology improvement. We can analyze in real time how different parameters affect CO₂ capture and adjust operation accordingly. The result is a fast learning cycle fully grounded in evidence.

This milestone is also the result of intensive collaboration with Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón, which has contributed its experience in IoT and connected systems. Together, we have designed a habitat that not only captures CO₂, but does so in a measurable, verifiable, and scalable way. This measurement capability is critical for the future carbon removal credits market, where trust depends on robust, auditable data. The experimental habitat is, in this sense, our best calling card.

Once the system is commissioned, we will begin a phase of testing, fine‑tuning, and optimization, and we will share the resulting insights through our channels. This milestone allows us to learn under real conditions and prepares the way for more advanced commercial solutions. For the heliCO2farm team, it is also a huge motivation to see so many months of work materialized. We will keep you updated on the discoveries and improvements emerging from this “first ecosystem” for carbon capture.
